Our tours range from 3 to 6 hours. Below are suggested itineraries, but all tours can be customized.

STREETWISE MANHATTAN

A tailored tour of Manhattan– perfect for either the seasoned visitor or those looking for an introduction to the city. If it’s your first time in new York you’ll get a crash course on the history of the island, and also on how to cross streets, eat, walk, shop, and argue like a New Yorker. We’ll visit the major sites and explore some of the most popular neighborhoods, revealing their secrets and leaving you with the comfort of navigating the city on your own. Or choose to dig deeper. Avoid Times Square and visit some of the city’s hidden gems on side streets in both historic and up-and-coming neighborhoods.

We quickly worked out the areas we wanted to see (Chelsea Mkt-Greenich Village-Little Italy-Chinatown-WTC) and sorted out a meeting place. We were then in Dan's expert hands, this guy is so knowledgeable and was able to quickly work out the various interest of our group and provide insights, and locations of interest. And this is no easy feat when travelling with teenagers. We dropped into a world music store because I had an interest in musical instruments, Magnolia because girls liked cup cakes and the TV show 'sex in the city' of course. Dan constantly checked in on how we were going and the pace we went at worked perfectly.

Even before the tour, [Andrew] did a great job in helping us to narrow down what we wanted to see based on our interests. The tour itself with was awesome. Seeing Chinatown, Tribeca and Soho with Andrew was great – he gave us really interesting insight into the history of those areas and pointed out all kinds of fun and quirky sights that we would have otherwise missed. Andrew also gave us excellent recommendations for the rest of our trip, and even followed up with an email about those. My husband, who was initially skeptical about taking a tour, has said that it was his favorite part of the trip. My preteen loved it, too (which says a lot, because that can be a tough age to impress).

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This walking tour was one of the best I have done in the U.S. and abroad. My husband and I took a 4.5 hour private tour with David through Lower Manhattan, Battery Park, Wall Street, World Trade Center site, China Town, Little Italy, The Bowery, Chelsea Market... David customized the tour to our requests as we went along and was knowledgeable, easy going, and friendly. It felt like walking with a friend through NYC!

Took a private tour (5 in group) with Andrew last week in Brooklyn and Williamsburg. The tour was customized to our needs/wants and had amazing food, which I'm still craving a few days later. Andrew was engaging, knowledgeable, and catered to our group. He made sure to drop us off where we needed to be to get to our next destination. I've gone on quite a few walking tours in NY and this was one of the best. I highly recommend Streetwise New York Tours.

Really enjoyed the tour i did of Brooklyn. Wouldn't have known where to start if i had tried to explore it myself. The guide (Dan) was great and extremely helpful to us tourists who don't know NYC that well. So pleased i did it as i probably wouldn't have gone to DUMBO and Brooklyn heights otherwise. That's the beauty of the tours, they take you to the parts of New York you may not normally visit but should. Was sad to have missed out on the other tours but will be sure to do them next time I'm in New York.

My husband and I took a private walking tour with Andrew from Streetwise New York Tours a few weeks ago. Though I am originally a New Yorker, we explored parts of Brooklyn that I wasn't familiar with. Our time with Andrew and our walking tour was a highlight of our visit to NY. This is a company to strongly consider when you are making plans to visit NY or one to use even if you live in NY and want to explore a new area of the city!

I guess if you are reading this you are planning a trip to New York! What ever you do make this top of your to do lists. I emailed Dan from Steetwise a few weeks before our fist trip to New York. I am a Photographer and my 17 year old son a musician so quite a mix of interests! I had asked Dan to show me the Real New York as I wasn't really interested in Times Square Ect..... Boy did he deliver! We spent 4/5 hrs around Queens and Long Island City. I found within 10/15 minutes it felt like we were walking with a friend and not a tour guide. Dans knowledge/rooted passion for New York was amazing! Dans suggestion of meeting at the beginning of our trip was great and with his recommendations of places to see and Music shops to find it kept us going for our 7 day visit. I can't recommend Streetwise and Dan enough and will certainly contact them again on my next trip. Thanks again for a great insight to a great City.

Andrew did a great job of customizing a tour of Queens for our family. We didn't really know what to ask to see/experience, but after a few emails and well posed questions, he had a good sense for what type of tour we would like and some significant stops along the way. Our boys, ages 11 and 14, enjoyed the tour as much as we did and have already, in casual conversation, referenced things they learned and saw along the way.

After visiting New York on many occasions we decided it was time to venture off the island and learn more about one of the other boroughs. The Queens tour was extremely interesting and Dan was a fantastic guide. We started in Jackson Heights and Elmhurst then travelled via subway to Astoria. We walked and learned about history and cultural influences in each neighborhood and stopped along the way to sample local food. I particularly liked Astoria and we will definitely return on our next trip. There were so many cafes, restaurants and independent stores that it definitely deserves more than one visit and time away from Manhattan.

These guys give a really unique look at ethnic and immigrant neighborhoods throughout NYC. I got a really interesting perspective of immigrant groups--from NYC Chinatown and Little Italy to the Colombian, Southeast Asian and Indian sections of Queens. A small "round the world tour" without leaving New York. Really well done and great side focus on delicious, ethnic foods!

I participated in the Lower East Side and Chinatown walking tour, and it was hands down the most fascinating walking tour I've ever been on. If you're after an unsanitised insider's look into NYC, where the tour leaders don't regurgitate boring humdrum, this is for you. You'll learn cool things only a genuine, local NYC aficionado would know. I would highly recommend Streetwise to all.

I texted Dan whether he could accommodate us and within minutes we had a confirmation and meeting point. Dan showed up early and we joined a small group to discover lower Manhattan’s culture and its influence by the many ethnic groups who came to NY over the years. Dan was very competent to point out landmark stores and buildings, providing meaningful insights. Some of sights and info are quite mind-blowing, but I won’t give it all away. – But be prepared for the unexpected – for example Dan knows the spot to get the best bull-frogs for dinner. The second part was Queens, which wouldn’t have been on my agenda if it wouldn’t have been for streetwise, but turned out to be a fascinating and diverse place. Anyway, I highly recommend Streetwise for their friendly service, passion for what they do and competence.

We have used this company several times for our NYU student program and the students ALLWAYS have wonderful things to say about Andrew and Dan's tours. They have been a pleasure to work with the last few years and consistently provide us with a memorable and unique experience as we talk about the past and current cultural diversity of various neighborhoods around NYC.

As a culinary professional and foodie in general, I’m not sure what I expected but was blown away. Andrew, the guide, not only knew the neighborhood, the food and the history, he knew the people, their stories and spoke of them with such passion and care. This, as much as the delicious food, made this tour exceptional.

We did three Streetwise tours with Dan and Patrick and found each of tours extremely interesting and enjoyable. Both guys had an extensive knowledge of their city and a genuine rapport with the group. We learnt so much about New York, its history and inhabitants that you would never find in books. The tours made New York come alive for us. We would recommend these walking tours to anyone visiting New York.
